Not a place, but a pause between the noise

the next notification.

The world has learned to reach you.

To vibrate in your pocket, fill your ears with someone else’s urgency, arrange reality into a feed you didn’t ask for.

Sanctuary is the refusal.

The walk where no one knows where you are.

The bench. The cold air.

The thought that finishes itself without interruption.

Unalgorithmed. Unscheduled. Yours.

This is what I photograph; not silence as absence,

but silence as arrival.

My submission for the Pompey Darkroom x Pitt St. Skatepark photography competition. The theme is ‘Sanctuary’ and this is my interpretation.

Street and coastal photography from around Hampshire. Started out on cheap charity shop cameras, because you don't need the best kit to get going.
